OpenAI's new round is now aimed at $20 billion, the Financial Times reports
Earlier reports this month described $30 billion at valuations of $1.4 trillion and then $1.25 trillion. A first close may be smaller still.

OpenAI has lowered the target for its latest funding round to $20 billion, and a first close is expected to be even smaller, the Financial Times reported Friday, TechCrunch wrote Saturday. Earlier this month the San Francisco lab was reported to be raising $30 billion, first at a $1.4 trillion valuation and then at $1.25 trillion, ahead of a planned IPO. The FT said a group of investors from the United Arab Emirates will lead the round. A later offering for wealthy individuals could add to the total.
