Drought and water scarcity are expected to continue in many parts of B.C. through the winter and possibly into 2027, the Ministry of Water, Land and Resource Stewardship says, urging residents, farms and businesses to keep conserving water.

Okanagan Lake is at its lowest level for this time of year in more than 80 years, and forecasts suggest below-normal snowpack in many regions this winter.

The province also warns that communities in and below recently burned watersheds face higher risk of flooding, debris flows and landslides during intense fall and winter storms.
