NIC Global plans to close its Woodinville, Washington, plant and eliminate 103 jobs, GeekWire reported Friday. Declining work from local customers is pushing production toward Eastern Washington, where data-center construction is growing. A notice filed with the Washington Employment Security Department says layoffs begin Jan. 18, 2027, and the last departures are Aug. 31, 2028. Jobs include assembly, engineering, quality assurance, metal fabrication and forklift work. The 100,000-square-foot building goes back to the landlord when the lease ends in September 2028.

The company said Woodinville is where NIC was formed in 2001, when three Seattle-area sheet-metal shops were brought under one roof, and called it a sad day.
