DoorDash said Thursday it has agreed to acquire Instacart for $17 billion, or $65 a share, TechCrunch reported. Both boards approved the deal. Instacart CEO Chris Rogers said joining DoorDash lets the grocery company do more with DoorDash's consumer reach and logistics. DoorDash said it will keep the Instacart brand, its enterprise technology and its app, and that the two will operate as separate companies until the transaction closes.

Saturday's reports had said Instacart was in early sale talks with DoorDash and had also spoken with Uber, which walked away. Thursday's announcement is the signed deal.
