Apple on Tuesday unveiled a 14-inch MacBook Pro with its M6 chip, TechCrunch reported. The laptop starts at $1,999, comes in space black and silver, supports Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6, and Apple says battery life reaches 24 hours. Apple also announced an iMac on the same chip. The products landed a day before an event called Pro and Tell, and a day after Monday's iPad mini announcement.

Apple said the M6 has a 12-core CPU and a 12-core GPU, with graphics up to 30 percent faster and AI workloads up to 25 percent faster than the M5. It claims up to 13 times the language-model prompt speed of an M1 MacBook Pro and up to 1.3 times the M5. The laptop starts with 16 gigabytes of unified memory, configurable to 32 gigabytes, and memory bandwidth up to 170 gigabytes a second, compared with 153 on the M5. Ports include HDMI, MagSafe 3, three Thunderbolt 4 ports, an SDXC slot and a headphone jack. Fast charging reaches about 50 percent in 30 minutes with a high-wattage USB-C adapter.
