Two former Amazon real estate managers acknowledged receiving personal payments tied to data-center deals they handled, under a settlement that ends the company's claims in a six-year lawsuit, GeekWire reported Friday evening. Carl Nelson and Casey Kirschner said they regret their actions, apologize for failing to meet Amazon's ethical standards, and are glad the matter is resolved, according to a joint statement the parties agreed to. Amazon provided the statement in response to GeekWire's inquiry.

The statement says the payments violated Amazon's code of conduct, broke the trust the company places in employees, and put its reputation at risk in the communities it serves.
