Anthropic published a report on Friday describing how the make-up of its own workforce has changed as the San Francisco company built its workflows around its Claude models. The share of junior-level employees in technical departments fell from 21% to 14% since early 2025, and the share of junior technical hires dropped from 27% to 9%.

Technical teams now make up 56% of the workforce, down from 61%, which the company attributes to business functions growing as it scales and to coding tools that let non-technical employees build software themselves. In an April survey, 27% of employees said Claude had made them more productive, and 20% said their job had shifted from doing the work to managing AI agents.

The report describes human attention and judgment as a growing bottleneck, as AI produces large volumes of text that people must read and organize. Anthropic says it has seen more code per person, more sales closed per rep and more contracts processed, while acknowledging that more code does not necessarily mean better code.

Calendar data shows meeting time per employee up 20% from a year ago, and 16% for technical contributors. Employees repeatedly described face-to-face coordination as indispensable, which the company ties to the importance of human trust and accountability.
