OpenAI puts compute and infrastructure under former xAI executive Uday Ruddarraju
Sachin Katti, who led the Georgia build, will leave the role within weeks and stay on as an adviser.

OpenAI has placed its compute and infrastructure businesses under Uday Ruddarraju, who ran infrastructure at xAI until July 2025, Bloomberg reported on Wednesday, according to The Next Web.
Sachin Katti, who had overseen infrastructure and led a $30 billion Georgia build, will leave the role within weeks and remain an adviser. Business leaders under him keep their jobs.
Ruddarraju joined OpenAI in July 2025 and became chief technology officer for compute this July. At xAI he worked on a training run across 100,000 GPUs.
"Sachin has done an incredible job maintaining the commercial partnerships," Ruddarraju told Bloomberg, adding that he expects a smooth handover.
