NDP Leader David Eby, Conservative Leader Lorne Doerkson and Green Leader Emily Lowan made their economic pitches on Tuesday at a Greater Vancouver Board of Trade event ahead of the Oct. 24 election, The Globe and Mail and the Vancouver Sun reported.

Board president and CEO Bridgitte Anderson cited a member survey showing 77 per cent believe the economy is on the wrong track, 95 per cent are concerned about the fiscal outlook and 80 per cent lack confidence in the government's economic strategy.

Eby said B.C. cannot afford the "chaos" of a Conservative government amid tariffs and trade wars and pointed to a pipeline of major projects. Doerkson criticized the NDP over a record $13.8 billion deficit and pitched tax and red-tape cuts.

Lowan said the Greens offer the only real alternative and called for rethinking B.C.'s reliance on natural resources and megaprojects.
