Nvidia is planning to invest in Santa Clara-based inference chip startup d-Matrix, Data Center Dynamics reported on Friday, citing The Information and three people with knowledge of the deal.

The planned investment is part of an effort by Nvidia to make its technology compatible with rival chip designs. A month earlier, d-Matrix said it would adopt Nvidia's NVLink Fusion interconnect to connect its Raptor processors with Nvidia hardware in rack-scale systems.

Founded in 2019, d-Matrix makes Corsair inference accelerators, JetStream network cards and Aviator software. It closed a $275 million Series C at a $2 billion valuation in November 2025, and The Information reported in July that it was seeking funding at a $5 billion valuation.

Other NVLink Fusion partners include Arm, Intel, Qualcomm and Synopsys, according to DCD.
