Amazon cuts hundreds of jobs in its Stores division
The company confirmed it eliminated 'a small number of roles'; the cuts affect fewer than 1,000 employees.

Amazon laid off hundreds of employees across its Stores business earlier this week, The Seattle Times reported on Friday, after Business Insider first reported the cuts on Tuesday.
The layoffs affect fewer than 1,000 employees in units including customer service, marketplace support and engineering roles, as well as in India and the U.K., according to the reports. It is unclear how many worked in Seattle.
An Amazon spokesperson confirmed the company "made the difficult decision to eliminate a small number of roles" across its Stores business. "We've adjusted parts of our Stores business because we believe this structure will better enable us to deliver on our priorities," the spokesperson said.
The cuts came during one of Amazon's Prime Day sales. The Stores division's revenue rose 15 per cent year over year to $70.4 billion in the second quarter, The Seattle Times noted.
