Thales Canada and Cohere bring agentic AI to Royal Canadian Navy ship support
The system will automate routine support functions in the AJISS program while keeping personnel in control.

Thales Canada and Toronto-based Cohere are introducing agentic AI to the Royal Canadian Navy's AJISS in-service support program, Ocean News & Technology reported.
The initiative combines Thales's defence and digital technology, Cohere's enterprise AI and Thales's cortAIx accelerator to automate specific support functions with human oversight, aiming to speed service delivery and improve ship readiness.
"Through our work with Thales, we're showing how agentic AI can operate securely to support ship readiness, including in disconnected environments, while keeping Royal Canadian Navy personnel firmly in control," said Cohere co-founder Ivan Zhang.
"The Royal Canadian Navy's commitment to advancing AI adoption will help ensure Canada remains agile and competitive," said Thales Canada CEO Ian Krepps. The Pacific fleet is based at CFB Esquimalt near Victoria.
