Seattle startup Chiplytics announced $4.5 million in funding on Tuesday to deploy its microelectronics verification technology and open an inspection facility in Bellport, N.Y., GeekWire reported.

The company screens semiconductor chips and other electronic components for counterfeits, substitutions and suspect parts before they are assembled into machinery. "We're seeing a lot of lead times now over 52 weeks for basic components," said president and co-founder Stephen DiBartolomeo, which pushes manufacturers toward independent brokers.

Chiplytics uses AI, automation and robotics to test every item. "We just did an order for 50,000 parts. If you were to try and do that by hand or by sampling, it would take way too long," DiBartolomeo said.

The company launched in 2022 through a U.S. Department of Energy program, worked with Sandia National Laboratories on its platform, and validated it with the U.S. Army, Navy and Air Force, according to GeekWire.
