OpenAI is adding visual display ads that will appear alongside images users ask ChatGPT to generate, TechCrunch reported on Monday.

The ads will begin appearing later this month in the U.S. only, featuring products and services from an initial test group of advertisers. OpenAI said the ads will be clearly labelled and will not influence ChatGPT's answers.

The company is also expanding its ad measurement partners, including AppsFlyer, Triple Whale, Adjust, Northbeam and Branch, and developing brand suitability pilots with DoubleVerify and Integral Ad Science, according to the report.

OpenAI introduced ads earlier this year to support its free and low-cost tiers and expanded them to India in August. ChatGPT has 1.2 billion weekly users, TechCrunch noted.
