Nearly half of British Columbians are trying to earn extra money, MNP debt index finds
Fifty-three per cent are concerned about career prospects amid tariffs and AI, the survey found.

Forty-nine per cent of British Columbians are trying to earn extra money, according to the latest MNP Consumer Debt Index, Daily Hive reported on Monday. Twenty-one per cent are doing so by selling things online.
The index found 53 per cent of B.C. residents are concerned about job mobility and career opportunities. Twenty-four per cent are worried tariffs, trade disputes or economic instability will hurt their job or income, and 20 per cent are concerned about AI's impact on their careers.
Nearly four in 10 British Columbians reported being $200 or less away from financial insolvency each month.
"A job loss, fewer hours, or a change in pay can quickly alter what a household can afford," said Linda Paul, a licensed insolvency trustee with MNP in the Lower Mainland.
