Destination Greater Victoria says the region's visitor economy is having an excellent year and is on pace to potentially match 2025, one of its best years, the Oak Bay News reported on Sunday.
From Jan. 1 to Sept. 30, accommodation occupancy held steady at 80.3 per cent compared with the same period last year. The average daily room rate climbed 5.3 per cent to $313.47, and revenue per available room rose 5.3 per cent to $251.75.
The organization's business events team helped bring 21 city-wide and 27 medium-sized conferences to the region in the first nine months, generating 67,624 delegate days and 22,598 room nights. Another 12 conferences are scheduled before year end, and 14 more cruise ships are expected, bringing the season to 335 vessels and more than one million passengers.
"These results are a reflection of all the hard work that has gone into promoting Greater Victoria as a year-round destination," said CEO Paul Nursey.
