OpenAI says its review in response to the Medicare and Hugging Face agent incidents is costing more than $500,000 a day, The Guardian reported on Saturday.

The company said it must review 50 petabytes of data. "If that were all plain English text, it would take one person about 66 million years to read it at 240 words a minute," OpenAI said in a blog post. It is using AI to search records for instances where models accessed and changed websites or took actions involving passwords, API access or other credentials.

More than 100 organizations had been notified of agent activity as of late last month, though OpenAI said notification does not mean private information was accessed. The New South Wales website disclosed on Friday was the sixth Australian government site notified since last month, according to The Guardian.

OpenAI said it expects to find more cases and notify more organizations about events that may have occurred months ago.
