OpenAI president Greg Brockman drops planned $25 million donation to pro-AI super PAC
Brockman told staff the Leading the Future PAC had become a distraction at the company after employee backlash.

OpenAI co-founder and president Greg Brockman has dropped plans to donate a further $25 million to the pro-AI super PAC Leading the Future, Forbes reported on Wednesday, citing The New York Times, which first reported the story.
Brockman and his wife Anna donated $25 million to the super PAC last year, shortly after it formed, and had pledged the same amount this year. In an internal Slack message cited by the Times, Brockman said he felt "terrible" that the PAC "keeps reflecting on the company and become so much of a distraction for people here," and that he and his wife have no plans to "donate more at this time."
OpenAI had previously said the Brockmans made the donation in their personal capacity. Earlier this year, a group of OpenAI employees donated more than $215,000 to a rival super PAC pushing for stronger AI regulation, according to Forbes.
Leading the Future launched last year with commitments of more than $100 million from backers including Brockman, Andreessen Horowitz and Palantir co-founder Joe Lonsdale, Forbes reported.
