Starbucks has permanently closed three downtown Vancouver locations as part of a restructuring that will shut 250 stores across Canada and the United States, Business Examiner reported, citing Daily Hive.

The closed cafes are on Seymour Street in the Metropolitan Towers, on Davie Street in Yaletown, and on Dunsmuir Street near Hornby Street.

The cuts are part of about $300 million in restructuring costs the chain is absorbing. The 250 closures represent about one per cent of Starbucks' roughly 18,000 North American locations.

Vacated corner sites downtown tend to be re-let quickly, and independent cafes and restaurants often move in where national chains pull back.
