Residents and businesses urge Vancouver's next council to take down the viaducts
Council agreed to remove the Georgia and Dunsmuir viaducts more than a decade ago, but the project has stalled.

A group of residents and businesses is calling on Vancouver's mayoral candidates to move ahead with demolishing the Georgia and Dunsmuir viaducts, CBC News reported on Tuesday.
Council agreed more than 10 years ago to remove the overpasses leading out of downtown, but progress has stalled.
The call comes ahead of the Oct. 17 municipal election, in which housing, permitting and the pace of city projects are central issues.
Removing the viaducts would open land in northeast False Creek for housing, offices and retail, a long-term opportunity for builders and local businesses.
