Summary

Add a receipt
Leave GST/HST and PST blank to estimate them from the total for your province. Leave Category on Auto to use your vendor rules.
Month-end close
Work through the checklist, then mark the month closed and export it for your bookkeeper.
Vendor rules
If a vendor name contains the keyword, the receipt gets that category. The longest matching keyword wins. Rules never overwrite a category you picked yourself.
Import & export
Exports for your books
QuickBooks uses the 3-column bank upload format (Date, Description, Amount). Xero uses the precoded statement format. The ledger CSV has every field and the CRA T2125 line. Formula cells are neutralised on export.
Import
Import a bank or card CSV with Date and Amount columns (Description or Payee becomes the vendor), or a Receipt2Books ledger CSV. Card debits shown as negative amounts are imported as expenses. A receipt with the same id is updated; anything else is added.
Full backup
Everything is stored only in this browser on this device. Export a backup regularly and keep it somewhere safe, such as Files, iCloud Drive or Google Drive.
