FACES ON
THE BUS

A picture-led first feelings book with Joy, Anger, Calm and Worry from the exact 22-character Emoji Carnival world.

Age-band production: written specifically for ages 0–2. Each page uses 0–15 words, repetition, sounds, face-reading and very large visual cues. Total story text is intentionally under 200 words. This is not an older manuscript shortened or relabelled.

PAGE 05

Calm

Calm sits by the window. In… out… slow breath.

IN… OUT…

PAGE 11

Try a Face

Point to a face. Name it. Make it. Breathe together.

ART: Mirror-shaped empty frame invites caregiver/child imitation; four tiny character icons below.
PAGE 12

Carnival Open!

Beep-beep! The Carnival opens. Feelings ride with us.

BEEP-BEEP!
ART: Twin buses enter glowing carnival gate together; Joy, Anger, Calm and Worry visible in windows.

Front-cover treatment

Twin buses enter from opposite sides beneath a simple carnival arch. Four oversized face windows show Joy, Anger, Calm and Worry. Title uses huge rounded lettering readable at thumbnail size.

Back-cover treatment

Four face icons surround a mirror-shaped blank space. Copy: “Beep-beep! Joy, Anger, Calm and Worry are riding to the Emoji Carnival. Point, name, copy and breathe through a first feelings book made for tiny readers.”

Character continuity

No new characters. This book uses four members of the exact 22-character canon: Joy and Calm from Bus One; Anger and Worry from Bus Two. Preserve all established character sheets and twin-bus colours.

0–2 learning layer

Goals: face recognition, simple feeling labels, caregiver imitation, sound repetition, “space” as a safe response, and one slow-breath cue. Never teach that challenging feelings are bad.

PREVIEW — NOT PRINT-READY. Complete 0–2 board-book manuscript and visual specification are present. Final approved character art, board-book pagination, trim/bleed, accessibility review, proofing, metadata, rights and release QA remain required.
