Saturn rises ahead like a pale gold lantern. ARQSA leans toward the window. “One enormous ring.”
ARQSI magnifies the scan. The smooth band explodes into lanes of particles. “Correction: countless orbiting pieces.”
ARQSI and ARQSA arrive at a giant planet that seems to wear a single shining disk. Up close, the “disk” becomes billions of orbiting pieces, and two extraordinary moons turn the ringed world into a lesson about gravity, oceans, weather and scientific evidence.
Age-band production: written specifically for ages 6–9. The issue uses dialogue, diagrams, labelled cutaways and moon cards so comic art carries part of the science load. It is not a relabelled younger manuscript.

ARQSI overlays Saturn beside Earth. “Saturn is the second-largest planet. Like Jupiter, it is made mostly of hydrogen and helium.”
ARQSA taps a landing marker. It vanishes. “Another world without an ordinary solid surface.”
ARQSI displays density numbers. “Saturn’s average density is lower than liquid water.”
ARQSA imagines a ridiculous bathtub the size of a solar system. “So Saturn would float?” ARQSI: “In the impossible thought experiment where a tub that large existed and Saturn stayed intact—yes.”
Cloud bands sweep past rapidly. ARQSI: “Saturn rotates in about 10.7 hours. Fast spin helps flatten the planet slightly at the poles and bulge it at the equator.”
ARQSA: “Another giant with a very short day.”
The ship approaches the ring plane. What looked solid from far away becomes ice, dust and rock fragments, each following its own orbit.
ARQSI: “The rings are not one sheet. Their particles range from tiny grains to much larger chunks.”
ARQSA rotates the view edge-on. The bright rings nearly disappear.
ARQSI: “Saturn’s main rings stretch hundreds of thousands of kilometres across, yet much of the main system is only tens of metres thick.” ARQSA: “A cosmic sheet of glitter—except every sparkle is moving.”
Dark lanes cut through the bright ring system. ARQSA: “Empty?”
ARQSI: “Not always completely empty. Some gaps and waves are shaped by the gravity of moons and moonlets. A gap can be evidence that something nearby is tugging on the ring particles.”
A small icy moon glows ahead. Jets spray from cracks near its south pole.
ARQSI: “Enceladus vents water-rich material from beneath its icy shell. Those icy particles help supply Saturn’s broad E ring.” ARQSA: “A moon feeding a ring.”
The display draws a cutaway: ice shell, liquid ocean, rocky interior.
ARQSA: “If the ocean touches rock, chemistry can happen there.” ARQSI: “Exactly. Scientists care about liquid water, useful chemistry and energy sources when judging whether an environment could be habitable.”
Titan appears wrapped in orange haze. ARQSI: “Saturn’s largest moon has a thick atmosphere—mostly nitrogen.”
ARQSA: “A moon with weather?” ARQSI: “Clouds, rain and rivers—but the liquid at the surface is methane and ethane, not water.”
Enceladus and Titan appear side by side. ARQSA: “One sprays water-rich material into space. The other hides water deeper and has hydrocarbon lakes above.”
ARQSI: “Same planet. Very different moons. Science improves when we compare worlds instead of assuming they work the same way.”
The ship looks down over Saturn’s north pole. A six-sided cloud pattern surrounds a giant storm.
ARQSI: “Saturn’s north polar hexagon is a long-lasting atmospheric pattern shaped by powerful winds.” ARQSA: “A six-sided weather pattern on a round planet.”
ARQSI speeds up the simulation. Ring particles orbit at different speeds depending on distance from Saturn.
ARQSA: “The rings look like jewellery in a photograph. But they behave like an enormous orbital system.”
ARQSA pulls up three old sketches: solid ring, smooth ring, particle ring.
ARQSI: “Better telescopes and spacecraft changed the model.” ARQSA: “So being wrong earlier is not failure?” ARQSI: “Not if new evidence makes the explanation better.”
ARQSI records: “Gas giant. Low average density. ~10.7-hour rotation. Rings of orbiting particles. Enceladus: active icy moon with subsurface ocean. Titan: thick atmosphere and hydrocarbon lakes.”
ARQSA writes underneath: “A beautiful shape can hide a complicated system.”
Saturn shrinks behind them. The next world looks pale blue-green and oddly tilted.
ARQSA: “Why is that planet lying on its side?” ARQSI: “That is exactly the next question.” Caption: “ISSUE 07 — URANUS: THE SIDEWAYS WORLD.”
