Jason’s Place Opens Jace’s Chess Room for Friendly Browser Play
A family chess room offers Gentle, Clever and Tricky practice levels, a friend-on-this-screen mode, hints and a downloadable adventure log.

Jason’s Place has opened Jace’s Chess Room in its Mansion Arcade. The free browser experience gives families a place to practise a familiar board game without creating an account. Players can begin against Jace’s practice bot or choose a friend sitting beside them, keeping the activity simple enough to open from a phone or a desktop browser.
The three bot levels are Gentle, Clever and Tricky. A visible move record acts as an adventure log, while the game-status message explains whose turn it is and when the position reaches a result. The room’s “Need a nudge?” panel offers a legal move to think about. It encourages experimentation without promising that a computer hint is always the strongest move or that the game provides a formal chess course.
The underlying rules implementation handles legal moves, castling, en passant, checkmate and draw conditions. A promotion selector lets a player choose a queen, rook, bishop or knight before completing a pawn promotion. This preserves the choices available in chess rather than silently forcing every promoted pawn to become a queen. The same tested rules foundation supports the separate Townline Chess Club edition.
Children can use Undo to reconsider a decision or New game to start again. The update cancels pending bot moves when either control changes the position. That prevents a late reply from an earlier board appearing after a reset. The save system also preserves the move sequence, so returning to a saved position restores a meaningful adventure log rather than only a board diagram.
Saved game progress stays in the browser used to play. There is no chess-room account, chat channel or stranger matchmaking in this release. “Friend on this screen” means two people sharing one device. Clearing browser storage, changing browsers or using private browsing can affect whether a position remains available later. Families should save a game record if they want a portable copy independent of that local progress.
“Save game record” exports PGN, a standard text format for chess moves. “Copy game” offers a clipboard alternative. A grown-up can keep the record for later discussion or open it in a compatible tool. Downloading that record does not purchase software, create a membership or enter a competition. The browser game is available at no charge, and its release does not attach a prize pool or paid entry process.
The room retains the approved Jason’s Place crown and existing game illustration. Its paths back to Play World, the Storybook Room and the Jason’s Place Store keep the game connected to the mansion’s wider books and adventures. The store is a separate destination for grown-ups; purchasing a book or membership is not required to use the chess room.
The product’s permanent identifier is ARQS-APIN-2026-001302. This announcement is ARQS-APIN-2026-001501 and is also available through Jason’s Place company news. Families can open Jace’s board now, then visit the free Glacier Room for a different kind of discovery. The release describes an available local browser game; cloud accounts, remote multiplayer and formal tutoring are not included.
