Educational schematic showing mountain snow, flowing glacier ice and rock debris; not to scale

Jason’s Place has launched Glacier Room, a free screen-based science activity for ages seven to twelve with a grown-up. The room invites visitors to explore a river of ice, practise ten useful words and answer a ten-question detective quiz. It is a companion to The Great Glaciers Digital Edition from ARQS Press, and the browser activity can be used without buying the book.

“Explore the ice” begins with a schematic of a mountain glacier. Four buttons reveal how snow gathers, how ice flows, how cracks form and how rocks leave clues. The diagram is labelled not to scale and serves as a simple visual guide to the concepts. It is not a navigation aid or a suggested route onto a glacier, and the room clearly states that real crevasses and ice caves are dangerous.

The vocabulary section introduces ten ice words through the ARQS LinguaQuest learning core. Visitors reveal a meaning before deciding whether they knew it, ask to practise again or move to the next word. The controls provide a small, repeatable study session without a timer. A progress message gives feedback as the visitor works through the terms; the activity does not create a public learning profile.

“Save vocabulary pack” exports a JSON file that can be used with the existing ARQS Language Lab. That connection makes the words reusable outside the room rather than locking them inside a single page. The pack is an ARQS vocabulary resource. It does not include a WordByWord subscription, a third-party account or a paid entitlement to another language-learning service.

“Glacier detective” presents ten multiple-choice questions with answer feedback and a visible next-question control. Visitors can restart the quiz and try again. The activity reinforces the ideas introduced in the diagram and word cards; it does not award academic credit, a credential or an admission decision. The release keeps the focus on curiosity and practice rather than presenting a game score as a formal science assessment.

Progress stays in the current browser. No account is required to enter the room, and the release does not promise synchronization across devices. A family can return to the activity on that device, although private browsing or clearing site storage may remove its local state. Exporting the vocabulary pack creates a portable resource without turning the learning progress into a server-side student record.

The room’s grown-up book panel links to the exact Great Glaciers digital product. That separate purchase costs $19.99 and supplies a text-first, 28-page PDF plus a reflowable EPUB. Files are delivered manually to the checkout email within 72 hours after successful payment. There is no physical shipment or instant-download promise. The expanded illustrated print edition remains in development and is not part of that purchase.

Glacier Room keeps the approved Jason’s Place crown and its light blue learning palette. Visitors can return to the Arcade, explore Play World, read the privacy information or try Jace’s Chess Room. The app is ARQS-APIN-2026-001400; this release is ARQS-APIN-2026-001502. Its diagram retains its own registered identity, and the brand newsroom carries a matching announcement.
