Real astronomy, not guesswork

The sky, calculated.

Cosmic Intelligence computes positions from published orbital elements for the Sun, the Moon (with its main perturbations) and the five naked-eye planets, then turns them into the things an observer actually needs: when it gets dark, whether the Moon will wash out the stars, and what is worth pointing a camera or telescope at.

Moon and darkness

Moon-free dark hours, to the minute.

Each night is split into civil, nautical and astronomical twilight, then checked against moonrise, moonset and illumination, so you get the longest truly dark window, not just "after sunset".

Honest about what it does. Cosmic Intelligence uses ARQS's own calculations from published orbital elements; it calls no astronomy API and sends nothing anywhere ("Use my location" asks your browser and keeps the result on this device). Positions are typically within a few arc-minutes, rise and set times within 1–3 minutes and moon-phase times within about 15 minutes. It doesn't know your weather, light pollution or local hills, and it is not for navigation. It is astronomy, not astrology; for moon-and-planet reflection, visit Townline Sky & Astrology. Turn your observing notes into sourced write-ups with ARQS Research Intelligence, explore the other ARQS Intelligence desks, or play Asteroid Command.
